James Klett Professor, Horticulture & Landscape
Architecture; Cooperative Extension Jim Klett has consistently exceeded
expectations in conducting his responsibilities in teaching, research,
outreach, and extension service during his 23 years of service. He
serves as faculty adviser for both the Horticulture Club and Pi
Alpha Xi honor society. His close working relationships and high
credibility with industry groups allows him to place students in rewarding
internships and excellent career positions. Jim's excellence as an
educator also extends to his responsibilities in Cooperative Extension.
He assists commercial horticulture firms in solving problems, sustaining
profitability, and enhancing the environment. |

|
| One of the keys to Jim's productivity is
an outstanding ability to build unique program teams. Two examples
of this are the Planttalk
Colorado and Plant
Select programs. Both programs are highly synergistic collaborations
among different elements of CSU Cooperative
Extension, Green
Industry leaders, and the Denver
Botanic Gardens. Jim's vision and persistence helped develop the
gardens at the Plant
Environmental Research Center and the CSU Annual
Trial Garden. The Annual Trial Garden is a research project to
study local adaptation of new varieties while teaching students and
managing the garden and collecting data. This educational program
for commercial growers is a great service to the University and community. |
